Motivate Design #WageOn Event

Not-so-fun-fact: There are more CEOs named John than female CEOs altogether.

Shout-out to Luna BarMotivate Design and this panel of queens behind me for helping to make the wage gap history last night, and special thanks to our event partners WestHouse New York and The Bouqs Company!

Joining me for the panel discussion were a few of my favorite female entrepreneurs and business owners, Mona Patel, Rosie Pope, Tracey Edouard, Sally Wood, Andrea Sullivan and Palak Patel

Motivate Design Presents: Food for Thought Leaders

If there's one thing I love as much as innovation, it's food, and this week I got to celebrate both.

I joined forces with Motivate Design and food industry experts from Maple, Freshly, Epicurious, OurHarvest and Chef Palak Patel for a live panel at Motivate Design HQ in the Financial District. After sharing their individual philosophies on food - from sources and preparation to consumption - the panelists shared key industry trends, from the growing relationship between tech and food to the importance of education when it comes to nutrition and food quality.

Head to Facebook for the live panel discussion, and check out some of my favorite snaps below.

This is YouthX

These girls are on fire.

This week, Motivate Design tasked 16 students with re-designing the MTA New York City Transit system at their first-ever ‪#‎YouthX‬ workshop. Keeping in mind entertainment, environment, ease of travel and more, the students were charged with creating the ideal transit system.

Thank you to E-School for Girls, Getty Images and everyone else who made the event such a success! ‪

Evolve Your Summer

You can sit with us.

This week I hosted a summer soiree with Evolve MKD in the stunning Park Lane Hotel Rooftop Suite. (Fun fact: This is the former apartment of real estate tycoon Leona Helmsley). Joining me at #EvolveYourSummer were some of my favs in fashion, beauty, media and blogging, including Maybelline, Lafayette 148, Viyet, Motivate Design, Cuddl Duds, Mashable, and Good Housekeeping

Shout-out to Ted Baker for this perfect dress, Getty for the great photos and Park Lane for the amazing Central Park views.

Motivate Design x Room for Design

There are few things more important to me than education and innovation. I had the opportunity to incorporate both last month during a Take Your Child to Work Day event I hosted in partnership with UX company Motivate Design

On April 28, we invited students, aged 8-13, to re-imagine the classroom during a five-hour workshop, Room for Design.

Classroom features – including air quality, natural light, and even wall color – play a significant role in a students’ academic performance. And since kids spend 50+ hours per week in the classroom, who would we be to not let them re-design it?

Check out this video to see some of the innovative ideas the kids came up with, and head to Marie Claire for a full run-down of my week in events.
