Pro tip when applying for a job: If it doesn't scare you a little, it's probably not the right job.

Linkedin has more than 20 million job postings, but did you know that I got my first-ever job via Linkedin?

I loved sharing my story during Small Business Week about how I got hired at Rolling Stone and now use Linkedin to hire talent for my own business.

And speaking of jobs, head to Forbes for my latest article about how to decide whether or not you should be friends with your boss on social media.

Don't Stop Me Now | Bohemian Rhapsody

Don’t stop me now.

In case you didn’t know, I started my writing career twelve years ago as a journalist for Rolling Stone - back when all I wanted to do was write about music. So you can image my excitement when 20th Century Fox called and asked me to talk about Queen!

The influence Freddie Mercury and Queen had on both the music and fashion industry is unparalleled (not to mention, his influence on me.) It was an honor to work with 20th Century Fox on this video during #NYFW.

Congratulations to the entire Bohemian Rhapsody cast and creators for the incredible story of a monumental band, and to Rami Malek on your well-deserved Academy Award for Best Actor.

Teacher for a Day at NYU

This week, I had the opportunity to guest teach an NYU class, sharing the story of how and why I built my business.

From getting laid off from Rolling Stone in 2008 to starting my own company in 2010, I explained to the class how the setback turned into an opportunity to transition from print to digital.

Shoutout to NYU for inviting me and to the passionate students who took the time to learn a little bit about the world of digital and social media.
