10/10 would recommend the newest Samsung Galaxy Note 10;)

As a small business owner, frequent traveler and remote worker, I’m always looking for tech that’ll make it easier to work on the go. In 2017, Samsung rolled out the DeX platform that allowed me to take all of my work with me wherever I went, without having to lug around my laptop.

And with the new Galaxy Note10, Samsung has introduced some exciting new integrations with Microsoft Office that are making life as a remote worker ever easier. Check out my interview with Samsung’s Hamshy Raveendran to learn about the newest DeX capabilities.

And speaking of remote work, the Galaxy Note10’s iconic S Pen has a brand new remote control feature that allows me to easily - and creatively - present to my clients.

Evolve MKD Influencer Panel

Prior to any speaking engagement, I do my research.

Last week, I joined Evolve MKD for a panel to discuss the influencer marketing industry, and before the panel, I did a search on Google.

I typed “Do influencers” into the search bar - and before I could finish my question, a series of suggested queries populated that shocked me.

The suggestions included:

Do influencers work? (Yes.)

Do influencers get paid? (Hell yes.)

Do influencers have agents?

Do influencers pay taxes?

The list goes on.

These search results made me realize just how little people know about this multi-billion dollar industry - and how important it is to educate people.

Thanks to Evolve MKD to inviting me to speak on the subject of influencer marketing — and interview Hannah Berner, Steph Selter, Gergana Ivanova and Nikki French.

As soon as I left my talk at Fashion Institute of Technology this week, I got this note from one of the students:

"I follow a lot of social media influencers on many platforms, and this is the first time I have had the chance to hear the behind the scenes of what is portrayed to be such a glamorous and 'easy' lifestyle. With society how it is today, a lot of the times myself and a lot of people I know don’t really trust social media influencers when they are promoting products because they are paid to promote. It was really refreshing to find out that there is lot of integrity behind who and what you promote, and it’s reassuring to know that hopefully there are other influencers out there like you. A lot of the times it is hard to believe someone is being genuine about a product when it is a paid sponsorship but hearing your side and how you run your business was insightful and revitalizing."

Thank you to the wonderful students at FIT for having me - and for the many beautiful thank you notes like this one. You make this influencer feel good at work every day.

"Social media is your résumé - whether you're an influencer, a restaurant or an accountant. Make it count!"

Last week, I joined my friend, University of Florida professor Kristina Libby for a Facebook Live about the future of influencer marketing - an area I'm pretty passionate about (read more here in The Atlantic).

We talked about everything from best content practices and how to set your rates, to how to approach brands and balance client and personal content.

Thanks to all who joined the conversation, and to the University of Florida for finally accepting me! ;)
