Asking for Myself: Creating a People-First Culture with Laurie Ruettimann

Updated: Jul 16, 2020

There’s never been a better time to create a people-first culture at your company – whether you’re an entrepreneur or employee.

  • Last week, Human Resources Speaker, Writer and Entrepreneur, Laurie Ruettimann, joined me for one of my favorite Instagram Lives to-date, to talk about how to create a people-first culture.

Here are my top five takeaways:

  • People are people first. They’re parents first, they’re siblings first, they’re community members first. People’s worth is not in their economic value – it’s in their humanity.

  • A company that continues to focus on diversity, inclusion, equity and belonging at this time, is a company that’s going to last beyond Coronavirus – and everybody else.

  • Be transparent, establish an open line of communication and establish boundaries – and this goes for leadership and employees.

  • Be patient – especially during this trying time, when everyone is facing different struggles outside of work.

  • Employees, schedule time for your families, schedule time to work out with your trainer, establish your routines. Employers, allow your team to make time to be human.

  • Thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed questions. Stay close to my Instagram for the next episode of Asking for Myself.
