A few weeks before Oct. 7, I was hired by the Israeli company Melio to make videos about how to build community online.
Neither of us had any idea that less than a month later, our communities - and our very existence as Jews - would be attacked, and that our social media profiles would be overhauled into activism platforms - defending our right to exist, sharing information about our murdered family members, and begging for the safe return of hostages ripped from our homes.
And of course: We’d begin using our online voices to tirelessly combat the vile anti-semitism coming at us from seemingly every direction.
As one Jew in my community put it: “Thank God for social media. How else would we otherwise know the enemy living amongst us?”
Today, whether you are using social media to tell the world about your business, your beliefs, or both, I feel extreme gratitude for this platform and community where we can talk freely, learn from each other, educate one another, and most of all, proudly speak our truth.
