Live, Camera, Action: How to Nail Your Next Livestream with Restream's Grace Duffy

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Restream. The opinions and text are all my own.

Did you know that 73% of people work on other tasks during meetings? 🤯 And a whopping 90% of people daydream during meetings?! (Okay, fine. I've been guilty on both accounts.) ⁣

I recently chatted live with Restream’s Virtual Events Manager Grace Duffy about how to make your next livestream/video meeting unforgettable. (And believe me, Restream does half the work for you. Safe to say I’m obsessed.)

During our livestream, we answered the audience’s burning questions about everything live video - check out some key takeaways below!

So if people are most likely daydreaming, how do you keep them engaged?

  • Practice makes perfect. It may feel silly, but practicing what I will say and how I will say it has really boosted my on-camera confidence - and helped each webinar stay on-track.

  • When the meeting or stream starts, tell your audience exactly what they are going to get out of your time together. Lay out the agenda, or tell people what they will learn by the end to reassure them that each minute will contain valuable information they won’t want to miss.

  • Keep the convo interactive with live Q&A’s or polls. With Restream, you can display the comments in real-time right on the screen, which is a great way to help your audience feel like they are part of the conversation.

What sort of tech set up do I need, and how do I make my livestream look amazing?

  • You know I love good tech. If you want to step up your live video game, Grace recommends a basic webcam, a microphone or headset to minimize background noise and improve sound quality, an invisible earpiece to make sure you can hear your guests perfectly, and a ring light or good old-fashioned window!

  • Inject your personality into your livestream. In addition to having a fun backdrop and showcasing your awesome personality, Restream offers custom design features that will show off even more of who you are. You can design the whole layout of the screen down to the font, color palette, branding, animated graphics and more.

So I recorded my livestream... Now what?

  • DYK there are 157 ways to repurpose your Restream livestream? (Yep, they actually counted.) With a Pro account and above, you can automatically save your livestream file, the audio file and the transcript.

  • Here are 5 things you can do in under an hour with your recorded livestream:

-Turn the audio file into a podcast. Boom!

-Embed highlight clips from your conversation into your newsletter or blog post.

-Turn clips into social media assets for any and all channels.

-Using Restream’s “descript” tool, you can generate a transcript which you can

then publish for those who prefer to read the conversation.

-Pull your favorite quotes from the transcript and turn them into quote graphics.

And that just scratches the surface of everything we covered (you definitely don’t want to miss our convo about what to do when you have to sneeze)! Check out my full conversation with Grace Duffy on Facebook Live - broadcasted courtesy of Restream, of course!
